If you’re anything like me, you love discovering new places around town. That’s why I couldn’t object to walking up to 14th and Sinatra Drive to eat at Turning Point for brunch this past weekend. Located at 1420 Sinatra Drive, the Turning Point is a popular spot among uptown locals. We arrived at 9:30 on a Sunday, and there was already a wait!
Something I really liked about Turning Point (which was different from a lot of Hoboken restaurants): there was an extensive tea menu.
I ordered the White Orchid tea. It was really good and soothing (after the previous day’s Leprecon events). I loved the rock of sugar that they gave me as a stirrer as well. I would definitely order it again!
Since I was with a large group, we got to sample a lot of dishes. Before our entrees came out, we had some roasted red pepper dip (usually it’s with pita bread, but they were all out — so we got tortilla chips).

Here were a few of our entrees:
The Big Easy Benny: (a seasonal special) Warm cornbread topped with sliced avocado, seasoned onions, suntan peppers, and chorizo sausage…then topped with two poached eggs with a Cajun Hollandaise Sauce. YUM!
Fall Fusion Turkey Melt: (a seasonal special) Sourdough bread filled with slices of roasted turkey breast, Monterey jack cheese, dried cranberries, smoked bacon. Served with a side of brown sugar rum sauce.

My Dish: Western Omelette (light on the cheese)
Omelette with spinach, peppers, zucchini, mozzarella cheese on top!
The Basic Skillet: Cheese, potatoes, eggs…enough said.
Overall, everyone loved their dishes. My omelette was very good, and everyone else who ordered eggs or something that required home fries REALLY enjoyed the home fries. They were super tasty! The prices were good, and I LOVED that there were a variety of healthy options (even though most of us were feeling greasy hangover food)…
The service was decent, but if you are looking for a place that is a Sunday funday atmosphere, this is not the place to go since no alcohol is served. (not that that is a bad thing, but just had to mention). In general the crowd was mixed, but it was mostly families with children.
