A Weekend of Hoboken: Shopping, Drinking, & Eating Locally {Part One}

It’s been a rough few weeks in the Boken, and like I said before, we’re still picking up the pieces. However, there’s no better way to help out (besides volunteering), than to shop, drink, and eat locally. So, that’s exactly what I did this weekend. In fact, I visited so many of my favorite spots that I had to break this post up into two parts. Imagine that.

The weekend rundown {part one}:

1. 10th and Willow: dinner and drinks with The Bloginista on Friday night:

10th and Willow is a super fun bar with a fabulous food menu. Alexandra (from the Bloginista) and I headed there Friday night to have some martinis and apps and just unwind from the week. We both ordered delicious martinis – mine, the “Creamsicle” (a concoction of orange and vanilla liquor) and hers, the “Key Lime Pie” (self explanatory). Both were delicious – as was our food. But that should be no surprise, if you’ve read my brunch review.

2. Pilsener Haus: drinks with some friends Friday night:

After dinner, I headed to the Pilsener Haus, which although did not fare well during the storm, was completely clean and ready to go for Friday night. Beer was flowing and there was a great crowd in attendance.

3. Mikie Squared: Saturday midday brunch:

My Cindy’s Salad Platter from Mikie Squared: avocados, grilled chicken, and grilled veggies with basalmic dressing. MMMM.

Had a delicious brunch at Mikie Squared – while I didn’t treat myself to a cocktail, I will say that their $10 Sangria pitchers are awesome. Definitely check them out for food and great drink specials. One thing I must say is that my brunch date was severely disappointed by the Banana Pancakes (which basically were plain pancakes with bananas sliced on top). Quite the cop out!

Lame-o banana pancakes.

However, Mikie Squared’s Cindy’s Salad and their omelettes are TDF. One of my favorite food spots in town, hands down.

4. Iconic Fashion Lounge: Shopping on Washington Street

Saw these gorgeous Dolce Vita flats in poppy red at Iconic. Between those and the leather fingerless gloves, I was in heaven!

5. Dear Hannah,: Shopping on Washington Street

I snagged this adorbs sweater from Dear Hannah, – super excited to wear it. The taboo days of mixing blacks and browns are gone (at the moment).

6. Sweet Nicholas: Shopping on Washington Street

I just loved this aztec-inspired sweater by Left on Houston at Sweet Nicholas.

8. Giorgio’s Bakery: A Saturday afternoon cannoli

What better way to pump some money in to the local economy than one cannoli at a time. My boyfriend and I shared bites of chocolate and vanilla cannolis from one of our favorite bakeries – Giorgio’s. With a hint of citrus and a few sprinkles, it’s the perfect consistency and flavor. Yum.

Hope this inspired you to shop locally in Hoboken and enjoy some local produce, food, drinks, and fashion. {Stay tuned for part two}!

Where have you been shopping, eating, and drinking since Sandy?

Tweet me all about it!
