You spell it omelette, I spell it omelet. Really though. Which way is it spelled? I won’t lie – I did a quick google search since I was conflicted. Both are correct, in case you were wondering. My time spent abroad in Paris made me think omelette was the only way, but I kind of like it without the extra “te.” Just in case you were wondering, here’s the research. Tomato, tomahto.
Oooh, a tomato would be a nice addition to an omelet. Anyway, I digress.
Being a “midtown” girl in Hoboken, I was extremely excited when the Clinton Social at 7th & Clinton finally reopened its doors back in March…after a long and rough road recovering from Sandy. I often enjoy their “T’s” and other specialty cocktails (complete with mason jars), so it was rough having them not readily available for evenings after work.

The Clinton Social “T” List
When I visited for brunch recently, my brunch date and I were both feeling like eggs. And not walking far or waiting very long. Usually, the Clinton Social, while often busy, doesn’t have a line (which is another reason I love it!). There’s almost always a bit of space at the bar or a table to be seated since the place is two plus rooms & large.
So, back to the eggs. Originally I had wanted to try the Sweet Potato and Brussel Sprouts Frittata (I mean, how fun does that sound?!), but of course that was the one thing they were out of….so I opted for the Shashito Peppers & Chariso Omelet.

My delicious dish – peppers and chariso infused omelet. YUM!

My date’s American Cheese Omelet. Basic but did the trick!
How were the homefries? You might ask…
Decent. I like them a little crispier, but my date enjoyed them. They were nice and spiced, and definitely more on the side of potatoes than crunchy – so it’s your call as to what you like. I really enjoyed my omelet (regardless of how you spell it) as did my date, so we were content.
As far as ambiance, Clinton Social has a very casual, relaxed atmosphere – which still feels upscale and date-worthy. It’s a place you can bring your parents, your girlfriend/boyfriend, or your family…sometimes I even have “business” meetings here. I also happen to love the walls of decor with black & white mixed with old photos and signs:

As far as service – our waiter was extremely attentive, yet he made us feel at ease and not rushed. It was a really pleasant experience overall, and perfect for the nice little Saturday we had afterwards.
So glad you’ve reopened, Clinton Social!
Can’t wait to go back for dinner…I just love their pierogies and Caesar salads!
Have you been to the Clinton Social? What was your experience like?
