If you’re looking for a little brunch spot with a little French charm and cozy ambiance, then La Bouche Cafe is a definite safe bet. Located at 103 Garden Street, slightly off the beaten path, La Bouche serves breakfast and lunch to the downtown crowd of Hoboken.
I must just say that the walk to this cute little cafe, on Garden Street, is just beautiful:
My brunch buddies included Start-Up Fashion Founder Nicole and the Single Girl Series guest blogger Robyn for a nice early morning (11am) brunch. We quickly ordered three pumpkin spice lattes (my Tour de Pumpkin Spice was in full swing at the time), but it took the waitress a good while to serve them.
Once they arrived, here’s how fabulous mine looked (I just loved the mug and swirl):
As you can tell from the picture, the drink was served when the meal came out – which I wasn’t thrilled with. Very slow service in general. I also ordered a large, but they delivered me a small….but charged me for a large ($5!) tsk tsk. However, the latte was tasty, and it definitely looked great too!
As far as menu options, La Bouche boasts a variety of sandwiches, salads, fruit plates, omelettes….and CREPES! Robyn ordered a Nutella Crepe, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

I loved that it didn’t have an overabundance of whipped cream and drizzle – just enough powdered sugar and strawberry garnish (contrary to my Stacks crepe experience).
Nicole and I ordered omelets. They were pretty good. My omelet was an egg white Veggie Omelet, and Nicole’s was the Prosciutto Omelet.

While I enjoyed my omelet, I felt that the side of spinach needed some dressing – it was just plain spinach! I love a healthy side, but I also need a little spice or topping with it. The meal also came with potatoes (lightly salted and spiced) and a bit of pineapple. Eggs weren’t watery, and the veggies in my omelet were fresh, always a good thing!
The favorite part of my meal came in this box…the check! How adorable is this? A very unique way to present the $$ owed, I’d say.
La Bouche is a great little spot to get a brunch on a spring, summer, or fall weekend. The inside is a bit snug, so it’s best to go on a day when you’d enjoy sitting outside. Service was quite slow and unresponsive, but the food was good. If you’re looking for a mimosa, however, head elsewhere – there are no AM Cocktails to be found! Not my top pick for brunch in Hoboken, but it’s definitely a place to go if you’re trying to dine outside with a small group in a fun & cozy ambiance – with a French twist! I’ve also heard that their macaroons are delish.
