Wandering around west Hoboken, you may feel like there aren’t as many places to eat as in east Hoboken…since Washington Street really keeps most people in that area. However, I’m here to tell you that besides the homey Diana’s Cafe on Jefferson Street, there is another place to cure those early morning munchies. Meet The Little Grocery.

The Little Grocery
Located on Jefferson between 2nd and 3rd, this little cafe (which is, indeed, quite little!) is open every day serving breakfast, lunch, and a private buffet supper. I’ve also heard they host children’s birthday parties! Coffee and tea abound, there are tons of options on the menu. And, they also do catering!
Before going there, I’d heard that The Little Grocery boasted having the “Best Egg Sandwich” in Hoboken on their website, and since we heard it…we had to try it.

The Famous Egg Sandwich
VERDICT: absolutely scrumptious. Cheesy, not runny, roll was a good texture (not too hard or soft). Definitely one of the better egg sammies in the Boken. Next time I want to try it on a croissant, which is my absolute favorite.
We also ordered a spinach and cheese omelet, which was quite delicious as well:

Although we didn’t try the scones, quiches, or bagels this time around, they looked heavenly. I love a good everything bagel chock-full of toppings. Sometimes places like to skimp you on poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic, salt, etc…but not these!

Scones Abound

Everything Bagels chock-full-of-everything!
Some words of “caution” for late risers: we arrived relatively early in the AM (maybe 10:30), and there was already a long line to order food. I wasn’t kidding when I said The Little Grocery is TINY! There are about 6 tables for people to sit and dine in…and since there was a long line and those tables were full, we decided to ordering takeout because it seemed easier. I was fine with it, but if you’re looking for a sit-down experience without the stress of waiting, it may not be your best bet due to its size. Still, quality prevails — I’d rather be eating my delicious eggs in a takeout box than sitting and eating average eggs somewhere else!
Overall – The Little Grocery is an adorable, delicious, treasure of a breakfast find! You’ll notice that there are a ton of regulars that come here for their morning coffee and egg sandwich, which is always a good thing. It has a very cozy vibe, and everything is fresh, homemade, and quite delicious — it is quite a gem in southwest Hoboken!
